  9. Another item from my favorite Betty Crocker 1950 cookbook.
  10. These are quick to make and rich and chewy.  The old cookbook
  11. notation says a movie star made these for her daughter.

  13. Mix                  1/2 cup shortening
  14.                      1 1/2 cups sugar
  15.                      2 eggs
  16.                      6 Tbsp (3/8 cup) molasses
  17. Add                  1 3/4 cups flour
  18.                      1 tsp soda
  19.                      1 tsp salt
  20.                      1 tsp cinnamon
  21. Stir in              2 cups rolled oats
  22.                      1/2 cup nuts
  23.                      1 cup raisins
  24.  
  25. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
  26. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees.
